Traditional Submission Window
We accept a few manuscripts (strictly fiction) during our themed and timed submission windows. These windows are announced yearly, so check our blog and social media platforms often for updates.
If accepted as a Gemspread Author, your work will be edited by our skilled editors, branded, produced, promoted, marketed, and distributed/sold.
Gemspread authors receive royalties as negotiated in the book publishing contract that states the terms of engagement.
If you prefer not to publish through our submission window, you can opt to cover the cost of the entire publishing process yourself (see guidelines below).
Guidelines for Submitting Outside a Traditional Submission Window
For Fiction
Send your manuscript as a Word document to submissions@gemspread.com with the subject: "Submission: Paid Publishing Route".
The submission word count for a novel should be an excerpt of 7,000 to 10,000 words or the first four (4) chapters. Also, attach a one-page synopsis of the novel. The synopsis must include all plot twists and spoilers.
If you are submitting a short story collection, submit 50% of your most captivating stories. For example, if the collection contains six (6) short stories, submit the best three (3).
Your submission must be accompanied by a short bio of yourself and your expectations for your work (not more than 200 words).
You will be sent an acknowledgement email, after which our editors will proceed to read and assess your manuscript. A subsequent decision email will be sent to you within eight (8) weeks.
For Nonfiction
If your manuscript is nonfiction, please email a synopsis of the work in PDF (a maximum of two (2) pages).
Your submission should be accompanied by a short bio of yourself and your expectations for your work (all in a single one-page PDF).
If you do not have a full manuscript yet, we can also accept a detailed proposal for the book you intend to write.
You will be sent an acknowledgement email, after which our editors will proceed to read and assess your manuscript. A subsequent decision email will be sent to you within eight (8) weeks.
